A man has denied stealing a charity box containing £50.

Duaine Edward Henry Asher, 32, of New Beacon Road, Grantham, denied the offence which is alleged to have taken place on August 19 in a house in the town.

But Asher did plead guilty to stealing three packs of steak, worth £15, from Tesco on September 28, stealing eight packets of Finish Powerball tablets, worth £63.92, from the Co-op on October 6, and stealing seven packs of steak, worth £35, from Tesco on October 6.

The case was adjourned by magistrates for trial at Grantham Magistrates Court on January 22 when the theft matters will also be heard. Asher was granted bail on condition he did not enter any retail premises except McColls and Lloyds Pharmacy on New Beacon Road.
