Magistrates did not accept the guilty plea of a defendant as there were concerns about his comprehension.
Defending his client, 49-year-old Russel Pearson of Shakespeare Avenue, Grantham, Julian Sheen said: “There are some mental health issues. He doesn’t fully understand what he is pleading guilty to. He doesn’t recall that incident.”
Pearson stands accused of assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty on July 26.
The prosecution entered no objection to the defence’s request that the matter be put back, with magistrates not accepting Pearson’s guilty plea and adjourning the case until September 8.
