A teenager who spat at his ex-partner is now subject to a restraining order.
Joel Ethan Gee, 19, of Fleming Drive, Melton Mowbray, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in North Parade, Grantham.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, outlined how the couple had split after a relationship lasting about two years. On December 3, the victim had finished work in Grantham at around 3.30pm, and was walking home with a friend due to her concerns about bumping into Gee.
She then saw him approaching her, and he blocked her path by moving in front of her every time she moved. When she turned around to walk back to work, Gee called her a “s**g” and a “c**t” before spitting in her face.
She reached her place of work and called the police. During his interview, Gee said he had felt sick after the break-up, and that he spat “to get rid of the bitter taste in his mouth”.
Chris Pye-Smith, defending, said it had been a very sudden break-up, with Gee’s girlfriend just not coming home one day soon after they got a place together, and leaving Gee in finanical difficulties.
He said Gee, who had no previous convictions, had gone to Grantham to find out what had happened. Both the restraining order and a conditional discharge imposed are to last 12 months, and Gee must pay costs of £85, a £15 victim surcharge, and a £150 criminal courts charge.
