A man punched and slapped his partner after they ‘bickered’ over money.
Darren Edward Short, 47, of Springbank Drive, Bourne, admitted assaulting his partner by beating her at Kinoulton Court in Grantham on October 30.
Prosecuting, Jim Clare told the court that Short and his victim had been in an on and off relationship for 11 years.
He said there had been previous incidents when the police were called.
On the day in question they had been out and on their return home had stopped to buy alcohol which they drank when they got home.
Mr Clare said they “bickered about money and his drug taking”. He slapped her on the cheek and then pushed her on to a bed and grabbed her round the throat.
She then kneed him in the groin.
He slapped and punched her on the head.
Mr Clare said a neighbour knocked on the door and the victim could hear Short being told to leave her alone.
He went back and grabbed her by the arm but police then arrived and she was able to get out of the flat.
The court heard the victim was left “feeling alarmed and scared.” A police officer said Short was very aggressive and was squaring up to him.
District Judge John Stobart adjourned the case until December 8 for a pre-sentence report.
