A MAN who ran out of a shop with four cans of Carlsberg Special Brew told a court he did it after being egged on by friends.

Michael Evans, of The Waterfront, Grantham, was seen running out of the shop on CCTV and police officers later found him in St Peter’s Hill, Grantham. He still had one can.

Defending himself, 30-year-old Evans, who admitted the theft, said: “It was just a stupid drunken moment. I’ve never done it before and I’ll never do it again. I can’t remember if I had any money. I was blindo’d.”

He was fined £55 and made to pay £5.16 compensation to the World Star Off Licence, in London Road.
