LEAD was stolen from the roof of a Grantham hotel.
Nicholas Ridding, formerly of Uplands Drive, Grantham but now living in Red Wing Close, Oakham, admitted stealing lead from the roof of the King’s Hotel in Grantham on the night of May 16 with the intention of selling it on to a scrap metal dealer.
Ridding, 30, had joined another man for the theft. The second man was not arrested at the scene but was later caught by police.
Stuart Wild, defending, said: “He was more than frank and co-operative with police. He made admissions of his role and named the person he was with.”
Ridding was sentenced to complete 100 hours’ community service. He must also pay £85 in costs.
