A WOMAN found herself in court after slapping an ex-partner with past convictions for domestic violence against her.
Katie Keaveney, of Kinoulton Court, Grantham, visited the home of her ex-partner’s father to drop her children off. She is unable to take them directly to her ex-partner, Samuel Kenny, because he has a restraining order banning him from direct contact with Keaveney.
Rob Arthur, defending, said Kenny had previous convictions for domestic abuse against the defendant.
Keaveney, 20, became angry after she saw Sam Kenny with another woman and broke a photo frame and part of his X-Box games console.
She then left the property before returning and striking Sam Kenny across the face.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, read out Sam Kenny’s comments in a police statement in which he said: “She doesn’t have any right to hit me.”
Kenny said that he was unsure if the strike to his right cheek was a slap or a punch but it did not cause him any pain.
Keaveney admitted common assault and criminal damage after initially denying any wrong doing in her police interview.
She was given a six-month conditional discharge for each of the two charges and ordered to pay costs of £40.
