A MAN who was punched in the face on a night out in Grantham was bound over by magistrates to keep the peace.

Sam Croft, of Thorold Road, Grantham, accepted breaching the peace but had the offence withdrawn after being bound over for six months.

If Croft breaches the peace in that time he will be liable to pay £200.

Croft, 19, was in Wide Westgate just after midnight when he became embroiled in an argument with another man who then walked over and punched Croft in the face.

Police intervened to try to keep the two men apart but Croft was arrested after refusing to calm down.

Croft was charged with a public order offence.

A second man involved in the incident escaped with a police caution.

Mrs McMillan, defending, said: “It was clear he was not the aggressor and this was clearly out of character for him.”
