A MAN was attacked for a pack of cigarettes as he walked along Huntingtower Road in the early hours of Sunday morning (Aug 7).
The victim, a 60-year-old man, was walking along Huntingtower Road when he was attacked at some time between 4.05am and 4.10am.
He was struck on the head from behind and knocked to the floor, suffering cuts, bruises and a fractured finger. He was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
Only a packet of cigarettes was stolen.
The robber, described as white, English, of stocky build and in his early 20s.
The police are keen to speak to a “young white man” who stopped to help the victim and then left the scene as he may have witnessed the attack.
A police spokesman said: “It is known that there were plenty of people in the Huntingtower Road and Harlaxton Road area at that time and police are appealing for anyone who saw the attack, or who thinks they have any information that may assist them, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
