A MAN accused of killing his 80-year-old mother appeared in court today charged with her murder.
John Thorpe, 53, lived with his mother, Mary Thorpe, 80, in Reedings Road in Barrowby.
Police were called to the address in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 2) where Mary was found dead in her home.
John Thorpe was arrested by police in the Swansea area of Wales later that day and transferred back to the area on Saturday night before being charged on Monday.
On Tuesday morning he appeared briefly at Spalding Magistrates’ Court.
Dressed in blue jeans and a navy blue jumper, Thorpe spoken only to confirm his name and address, answering “that’s correct” each time.
He then stared at the floor as he was told he had been charged with murdering his mother, Mary Thorpe.
John Thorpe will next appear at Lincoln Crown Court tomorrow (April 6).
