“SELFISH” arsonists are putting lives at risk by tying up firefighters’ time.
Wood in the Hills and Hollows, behind homes off New Beacon Road, has been set alight four times already this month.
Steve Wright, arson task force manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “These incidents tied up valuable fire and rescue resources for several hours.
“If a call for a life-threatening emergency had come in to us this could have meant a delay in attendance, putting those people requiring our help at risk due to the mindless actions of these selfish people. It could even be their family or friends that they are putting at greater risk.”
Arson boards have been erected in these areas warning residents of the ongoing problem.
One neighbour in Gorse Road, adjacent to the Hills and Hollows, said: “We’re really worried about it. If a fire really gets going our houses could be at risk.
“It’s just kids, I assume. It’s a bit of a laugh to them, but it’s not a laugh, it’s dangerous.”
