A HIT-AND-RUN driver who put a woman motorcyclist in hospital is being sought by police.

Zoe Washington was on her bike waiting in traffic heading towards town near the bridge on Barrowby Road when she was hit by a black VW Golf.

Zoe said: “I was sat around ten feet from the back end of the VW Golf, who then proceeded to shove his car into reverse, put his foot down and collide with the front of my bike whilst I was sitting on it.

“I was knocked over after an immense bang from the car hitting the front of my bike.

“Whilst lying on the floor the man pulled his window down and peered out of it. Looking at me on the floor and said ‘sorry, I just didn’t see you’. He then drove off!”

Zoe, who lives in Loughborough and was driving through Grantham to visit her mother in Sleaford, was left on the floor and needed the help of bystanders.

She said: “It took two very nice women to help me and call the police.

“I ended up in A&E in Grantham Hospital with severe bruising to my right leg.”

The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Thursday (April 28).

Lincolnshire Police are hoping to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and can help trace the driver of the VW Golf.

A police spokesman said: “The male driver of the VW Golf drove off at speed in the direction of town. Police are appealing to this driver to come forward after he failed to stop at the scene of the collision.”
