Sainsbury’s have confirmed that the demolition of the current petrol station on London Road is expected to begin at the start of September.
A planning application to knock down the existing four pump station and replace it with six pumps, a new kiosk and canopy was approved by South Kesteven District Council in May.
Now a Sainsbury’s spokeswoman has confirmed that work is due to begin next month, and should be completed by the end of November when it will re-open to customers.
Meanwhile the renovation of the petrol station should not affect the running of the supermarket.
As well as increasing the petrol station’s capacity with more pumps, the work is being carried out in order to replace the existing double skin fibreglass tanks with improved fuel storage that will reduce the risk of leaks.
