The licensees of The Rutland Arms pub in the Vale of Belvoir say the pub will remain open over Christmas and New year.

Bob Taylor and his wife Elizabeth were due to leave the pub, also known as The Dirty Duck, in Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir in November. Bob, who has run the pub for 43 years, says he is staying on until an agreement can be made with Belvoir Estates who own the building.

Bob said: “We are still here because until we can come to an agreement we are sitting tight. We are not doing very well at the moment. A lot of people think we are closed, but we are doing Christmas and New Year. It’s business as usual. We are just waiting for someone to come in and take over.”

The couple, who live in Barrowby, own the Springfield Arms in Springfield Road, Grantham, where they plan to introduce real ale and good food once they have left the Dirty Duck.
