A meeting to dicuss plans for a zebra crossing outside St Anne’s Primary School in Grantham has been put back after officers were unable to attend.
County councillor Charmain Morgan, a member of the planning committee who has led opposition to the plan, said the officers were unable to attend because of personal reasons and so the decision would be delayed until the next meeting.
Lincolnshire County Council planning officers are recommending the plan for the crossing on Harrowby Road is refused. They say the plan should be refused due to the high number of objections received from members of the public.
Following consultation, Coun Morgan delivered 81 pro-forma letters of objection, plus another 12 letters, to the council. Many residents objected to the loss of parking spaces, but traffic speeds and HGVs were also mentioned. Coun Morgan and others have called for the reinstatement of the school crossing patrol.
