These young singers from Huntingtower Primary Academy had a musical experience they will never forget, according to their teacher.
Donna Kightley described the Young Voices event in Sheffield with X Factor star Stacey Solomon as “amazing”.
The Academy’s KS2 Choir were the first representatives from the acadmey to take part in Young Voices.
The organisation is the largest school choir organiser in the world and currently stages than over a dozen capacity concerts a year in the UK’s leading arenas.
Each year more than 90,000 children, 6,000 teachers and 120,000 family and friends come together to enjoy music and celebrate singing.
At the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena, the Huntingtower children had the chance to perform in a mass choir with professional musicians, dancers and singers for an audience of parents, who were also entertained by TV’s Stacey.
The children had a variety of songs to prepare, ranging from Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer to English folksongs.
Three hours of rehearsals were followed by a performance from 7pm to 9pm, making it an exhausting day.
It was worth it, though. Ms Kightley said: “Children and parents alike found it to be a wonderful experience to be involved in and to watch and all who were there that night came away with a memory that would last a lifetime.”
