The headteacher of Ancaster Primary School describes the past two years as “exceptional” as the school has gone from strength to strength.

Part of the village school’s success can be put down to the building up of the team of staff, who have worked hard to improve the school and encourage the growing number of pupils.

Headteacher Katie Durant-Good said: “At the heart of our work and included in our mission statement is ‘to provide a safe, caring environment’. We want our children to be happy so they can learn and ‘be the best they can be!’.

“We don’t feel we are a school driven by levels but we have proven these can be achieved year on year, when there is a strong morale in school, great relationships with parents and children who want to be at school every day.”

A very recent feather in the cap at Ancaster is a letter received in December from the Rt Hon David laws MP, recognising the school as being in the ‘Top Performing 100 Schools’.

An Ofsted report in January gave further cause for celebration. The school was judged as ‘good’ in all areas with ‘outstanding’ practice in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.

Mrs Durant-Good said: “We are thrilled and keen to keep doing our best and enjoying what we do.”
