Pupils in Caythorpe Primary School Sewing Club have received help developing their skills from another school.

Head of Textiles at Sir William Robertson Academy, Zena Parsons, made weekly visits to the school late last year culminating in the Year 5 and 6 group visiting the Welbourn School just before Christmas to finish their Christmas star decorations.

The girls have enjoyed five sessions learning new techniques and having a chance to try the school’s high-tech sewing machines.

Mrs Parsons said: “It was a joy to work with Caythorpe Primary School on this project and welcome the girls to the school to take part in a science workshop and see our wonderful performance of Oliver at the end of term. We look forward to working with the school on other projects in future. We would like to thank Today Interiors of Grantham for kindly donating the wonderful material for the stars.”

Sixth Form student Mollie Spurr has been helping at the sessions as part of the peer mentoring programme at the school.
