The West Grantham Academies Trust said it is celebrating some strong performances in this year’s GCSE results.
The curriculum covers a suite of academic GCSE subjects and the school has seen some excellent top grade performances from students.
Highest performers include: Henry Choi who achieved four A*s, including maths and further maths, two As, two Bs and two Cs at GCSE, as well as an A grade in A-Level Chinese; Noah Ahamad achieved an A grade in GCSE English, B grades in French, PE, history, additional science and triple science and C grades in maths and core science; Dario Carvalho also gained an A* in maths, an A in triple science and two As in modern foreign languages; Dale Reddish and Harry Warne, who both achieved an A*, were amongst the 17 per cent of pupils who achieved a B grade or higher in GCSE maths.
In all, 93 per cent of pupils entered for triple science achieved all three GCSE qualifications.
This year, the academy has opted into the new government performance measure of Progress 8. This measures pupils’ progress from their starting point at the end of primary school through their time within the academy.
Among those who progressed exceptionally are: Santa Ozola who achieved seven GCSEs including making five levels of progress in English and four in maths; Kane Temperton, Harry Warne, Dale Reddish and Dario Carvalho made outstanding progress to achieve five levels of progress in maths.
A spokesman for the school said: “Once again the academy is delighted with the fact that students have secured their next steps in either further education, employment or training, including a large proportion who will begin Level 3 A-level equivalent courses with providers both within the town and further afield.
“We wish all of our pupils every success in their next steps and would like to congratulate them on their hard work throughout their time in the academy.”
On collecting his results, head boy Noah Ahamad said: “My journey at St Hugh’s has finally come to an end. Thanks to St Hugh’s I am ready for my next challenge. They have been passionate, intuitive and dedicated; they made me the person I am today.
“I couldn’t thank them enough – it has truly being an honour being head boy and a student of this school.”
