Yorkshire Bank has given £500 to Barrowby Primary School to spend on equipment which will allow pupils to enjoy performing arts.

The cash will be spent on a new stage and sound equipment, aiding both school productions and the choir.

The money was generated via Yorkshire Bank’s employee volunteer grant programme. Set up in 2008, the programme aims to help voluntary groups in need.

Barrowby school was made eligible for the grant as mum-of-two Phillipa Harvey is a ‘friend of Barrowby School’. She is also a regular at school fund-raisers and actively takes part in helping Help the Hospices, the Bank’s charity partner.

Headteacher Len Batey described the donation as “unbelievable”. He added: “This will go a long way to funding this new equipment.”
