Grantham students’ weather balloon takes spectacular photos from space

Students at Priory Ruskin Academy in Grantham have taken part in a variety of experiments for Science Week.

The week was organised by science teacher Robynne Wilde. It included the launch of a weather balloon 15 miles up into space, an inflatable star dome, a trip to the Space Centre in Leicester, a visit by a biologist from the Galapagos Islands, as well as a look at conservation and careers.

The week ended with a science fair and a competition to find the best invention among the students. First prize went to Georgina Smith, followed by Lauren Lowis, Kiera Horner and Catherine Paige. Science club winners were Ellie Allen and Harry Thorpe. First prize was a telescope.
