A NEW principal took charge at Walton Girls’ High School on Wednesday.
Christine Horrocks told the Journal it is her dream job and she is excited about getting to know the students and staff, who have made her feel very welcome.
She said: “When I first visited the school I was blown away by the high standards in terms of learning, achievement, behaviour and positive attitude. I want to build on the successes of the school, which is already outstanding.”
Mrs Horrocks, said she was made very welcome by former headteacher Ros Gulson, and felt a connection with the school as she shares similar values to that of its motto, ‘To Enable All Students to Reach Their Potential’.
The sporty mum-of-two said: “All students have talents and that’s something this school is very good at.”
Walton Girls’ is the first academy where Mrs Horrocks, who previously worked at a Nottinghamshire School, has taught.
She added: “There’s a lot to be gained from having academy status. It provides a way of raising standards and achievement.”
