A NURSERY which received a low Ofsted grade under its former ownership has now been graded ‘outstanding’.
Children 1st Day Nursery, in Trent Road, Grantham, was inspected on October 4, and Ofsted inspectors came away very impressed.
It gained top marks in all areas, and was praised for its commitment to ensuring youngsters are happy and settled.
The inspector wrote: “The environment is bright, airy and very welcoming to all children.
“Highly effective procedures are in place for monitoring children’s learning and development.”
Further praise was heaped upon employees’ abilities to plan activities around children’s individual needs and to teach them valuable skills early on.
Inspectors were also pleased to see children were taught about different races and cultures.
Only two areas were identified as needing improvement, and they are to develop free flow play for toddlers, and to further promote children’s sense of belonging and achievement by providing suitable areas for them to display their own work.
Nursery manager Kelly Meadows said she was “over the moon” with the good report.
She added: “When we took over, the nursery had been graded ‘unsatisfactory’ by Ofsted so in four years we have turned it around to ‘outstanding’ in all areas.”
