Wyndham Park Forum and South Kesteven District Council joined forces with contractors Glendale to tidy Wyndham Park’s Sensory Garden this week.

The park forum initiative was led by volunteers Carole Boyle, Margaret Wuidart and secretary Elizabeth Bowskill to help maintain one of the park’s focal points.

Councillor Frances Cartwright, friend of Wyndham Park Forum and SKDC’s park community engagement officer Charlotte Crake, were among those who assisted the team in cutting back decaying vegetation and tidying the area ahead of spring arriving.

The work took place at the start of an important year for the park as it bids for the next stage of Heritage Lottery Funding to help restore it to its former glory as a First World War memorial park.

Consultation with the community in the coming months will evidence how features and buildings could be refurbished if second round application funding is awarded.

A design team will also soon be appointed to survey the structural elements of the park and produce repair and improvement schedules.

The forum is meeting again on Saturday at 10.30am to undertake more work in the Sensory Garden. All are welcome to attend.
