Refuse trucks have been given a facelift as part of a new campaign launched by South Kesteven District Council.

Refuse freighters and other SKDC vehicles which travel the district now bear the slogan ‘Love South Kesteven, hate litter!’ in a bid to instill a sense of pride in Grantham and the surrounding villages.

It is hoped that the campaign will see a reduction in the 1,734 tonnes of litter and fly-tipping picked up by SKDC every year.

The slogan will also feature on posters to be placed on lampposts in the town centre.

SKDC’s portfolio holder for healthy environment Councillor John Smith said: “We are using all the resources at our disposal to get the message across and we are backing this up with a radio campaign with a strong message that people should not drop litter or fly-tip.”
