Water company Severn Trent has organised a drop-in session for those affected by the burst main on Sunday in Bingham.
The company said 16,000 people were affected in Nottinghamshire when the main burst in Epperstone, leaving people without water or with low water pressure. The Journal was also contacted by people affected in Bottesford.
The Bingham drop-in session will be held on Thursday, March 3, between 2pm and 5.30pm at Bingham Library, Eaton Place, Bingham. It is one of three being held. The others will be in Epperstone and Lowdham.
Sarah Bentley, Chief Customer Officer at Severn Trent, said: “I’m really sorry for what happened and want to wholeheartedly apologise to everyone for the loss of supply over the weekend. I really appreciate everyone’s patience and support for our engineers while we worked to sort out the water supply for everyone.
“The drop-in sessions are an opportunity for us to listen to your concerns, which together with the feedback we received over the weekend, will help us to learn from the incident and to improve our service.
“We’re passionate about making sure we deliver a reliable quality supply of water with excellent service so the event during the weekend and the impact it had on you was simply not good enough on our behalf.
“Being without water for up to 19 hours is just unacceptable so all the learning we can take from this incident will help us to manage these events differently in the future. If you’re able to spare some time to share your experiences at these sessions, please be assured that we will take your feedback on board.”
Representatives from Severn Trent will be available to listen to customers during the sessions. There is no need to book an appointment.
The company said the burst in Chapel Lane, Epperstone, was in a 24-inch pipe that led to a loss of supply for around 16,000 customers. It said engineers worked hard to return supply to customers, with everyone having water again by midnight.
