Wednesday, 3.30pm - AN application has been submitted by developer Ridgewind to build eight 310ft wind turbines near Bottesford - enraging anti-wind farm campaigners.BLOT - Belvoir Locals Opposing Turbines - the group which successfully fought plans to build a wind farm at Thackson's Well less than a mile away, says submitting the application so close to Christmas is a cynical attempt to thwart public opposition to the plans.

A spokesman said: "For the second Christmas in a row local people are again thrown into the turmoil of fighting for their quiet countryside, amenity and peace of mind.

"We are not surprised, but frustrated, by this.

"It is less than a month since the Planning Inspectorate refused the appeal by Infinergy at Thackson's Well so it is plain for all to see developers not only ignore public opinion but also Government guidance."

Oxon-based Ridgewind says it is waiting for confirmation from Melton Borough Council that the application for the site is being processed.

Palmer's Hollow project manager Ben Moore said: "Whether we will hold any further public consultation is yet to be determined."

The borough council objected to the Thackson's Well development, near Normanton, which was refused permission last month after an 11-day planning appeal.
