Arsonists target straw bales on fire and rescue's busiest night of the year

Friday, 9.30am - HUNDREDS of tonnes of straw bales were set alight by arsonists near Marston last night.Firefighters from Grantham were called to a field by the railway line at about midnight, where they found 100 tonnes of straw well alight.
The flames had spread to a nearby 1,000 tonnes of straw.
Firefighters left it to burn out under inspection, and further inspections are due to be carried out this morning.
Bonfire Night is notoriously one of the busiest night for fire and rescue crews, and last night was no exception.
A fire and rescue spokesman said there was a flurry of calls between 6pm and 9pm, all bonfire and firework-related.
