Monday, 3.30pm - GHOSTLY apparitions seen in this photograph of Great Gonerby are 'spirits' says the taker of the picture.Sandra Thacker, 62, of The Knoll, Great Gonerby, took the photograph outside her home last week (Jan 5) on a digital camera.

She firmly believes the figures in the foreground are ghostly spirits as she is no stranger to paranormal activity.

Sandra said: "I have lived in a house with spirits before so I knew straight away what it was. The figure on the left seems to be wearing some kind of 1930's pinny while the figure on the right seems to be wearing something either from the 60's or the Elizabethan period.

"When I lived in Nottingham we started with one spirit living in the house and ended up with eight. But this is the first one we've seen in Great Gonerby."

In Sandra's experience, unexplained smells are often a dead giveaway that you have spirits in your midst.

She said: "When we lived in Nottingham there used to be a strong smell of tobacco on the stairs but nobody smoked. When I mentioned it to my young son he said, 'that's the man I play with on the stairs'.

"We later did some research and found out a man had died on the steps many years previously.

"If you get a fishy smell it usually means the presence of a bad spirit. We were having our central heating put in once in our old house and the man who was sorting it said, 'there's a horrible smell of fish under the floorboards.

"We told him not to worry, it was just the spirits. He immediately packed up his things and we never saw him again."
