CCTV team spots crooks dumping handbag in Grantham town centre bin

Friday, 12.15am - CCTV operators in Grantham spotted two men dump a bag in a town centre bin, which was later linked to a handbag theft at an industrial estate.It was at about 7.50am yesterday that the South Kesteven District Council CCTV team noticed the men acting suspiciously.
They followed them via camera and saw them appear to dump a bag in a bin.
In the meantime, police received a call from a firm based at Withambrook Park Industrial Estate, off Londonthorpe Lane, saying an offender had entered the building and stolen the handbag.
Officers linked the incidents, liaised with CCTV and recovered the bag from the bin.
They later arrested a 49-year-old local man and a 51-year-old local man.
A vehicle search led to the recovery of property.
The offenders have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until January 15.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "This is yet another example of the excellent work of the SKDC CCTV team and it shows that by working together we can significantly impact on crime and improve public safety in the area."
