Friday, 11am - A CORONER has criticised police who failed to find a driver who lay dead in his car for three days following an accident on the A1.The body of Martin Hope, 19, who lived in Grantham, was found in his car three days after it left the carriageway near Balderton.

Drivers reported the accident on Friday, August 17, and a search of the area was conducted by police and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

But the car could not be found and was eventually discovered the following Monday.

Recording a narrative verdict, coroner Nigel Chapman said the investigation "left a lot to be desired".

But the coroner said he did not believe the delay had made a difference to Mr Hope's survival.
