Driver hits bridge despite warning signs
Tuesday, 2.20pm - IT'S difficult to think how the warning could have been any clearer.
Tuesday, 2.20pm - IT'S difficult to think how the warning could have been any clearer.Just days after "HIGH VEHICLES USE CENTRE OF ROAD" was painted in giant letters on Harlaxton Road bridge, this happens.
This bridge strike was spotted by Journal reader Dean Ward at about 11am today.
The Journal has been running the It's a Low Bridge Stoopid! campaign to reduce the number of times the town's bridges are hit each year.
Grantham has three of Network Rail's top ten hit bridges - causing untold cost to businesses and havoc for road and train users.
As a result of the campaign Network Rail installed warning signs on bridghes in Harlaxton Road, Barrowby Road and Springfield Road - but the warnings are apparently too subtle for some drivers.
