Wednesday, 4pm - TEENAGERS played in a friendly football tournament final at Grantham's South Kesteven Stadium on Friday. The FairPlay Football tournament is run every year by South Kesteven District Council.
More than 70 teenagers signed up to take part this year, many of which have in previous years been troublesome and were encouraged to take part by Lincolnshire County Council's positive futures team, the Youth Service and SKDC's anti-social behaviour team.
Over the past eight weeks, the players, aged between 13 and 16, competed in six-a-side matches at The Meres Leisure Centre.
Each week they either gained or lost points based on their behaviour and attendance, and the group was whittled down to 28 with the most points for the 11-a-side football final.
The team captained by player Alan Moore won the match 5-3.
Phil Jordan, from SKDC's healthy communities team, said: "FairPlay Football is all about giving young men aged 13-16 the opportunity to be part of a positive, team-based activity which rewards good behaviour.
"The chance to play in the final gave them all something to aim for."
An awards presentation followed. The players' player award went to Luke Peberdy.
Everyone received a medal and certificate and the top three highest scoring players also received a trophy. They were Alan Moore, Mark Gray and Ashley Drake.
