MR Dennis "Chick" Chambers, of School Lane, Old Somerby, has died at Grantham Hospital. He was 75.

MR Dennis "Chick" Chambers, of School Lane, Old Somerby, has died at Grantham Hospital. He was 75.He was born at Wilsford, the son of Mildred and George Chambers. He had two brothers, Alan and David and a sister, Audrey. He attended Londonthorpe Primary School, followed by the National School.

On leaving school he worked on the railway at Great Ponton. At the age of 18 he was called to do his National Service in the REME. In 1954 he joined the Territorial Army.

He married Joyce in 1966 and they had two children, Stephen and Karen and two grandchildren, Heather and Jack.

Mr Chambers had various jobs, including milkman and coalman. In 1963 he joined Vacu-Lug Tyres as an HGV driver, where he remained until his retirement in 1999.

Since his retirement he was a very active man, helping his family and friends. He also enjoyed watching motorcycle racing and darts on the television, walking, and spending time in his garden. Most importantly, he liked to spend time with his family.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine's Road, Grantham.

Donations for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance amount to 495.
