MRS Kate Ellen Humphreys, of Bourne Road, Corby Glen, has died at Grantham Hospital. She was 91.

MRS Kate Ellen Humphreys, of Bourne Road, Corby Glen, has died at Grantham Hospital. She was 91.Mrs Humphreys was born at Sudbrooke, near Lincoln. She was a very family focused person, thoughtful and hardworking.

At the age of 14 she was sent to work at Grantham Hospital. She later married and joined her husband's grocery business at Whissendine.

Widowed, with four young children, she became the licensee of the Sir Isaac Newton Inn, at Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth. She later remarried.

After moving to Corby Glen, she worked in home, school and outside catering.

She had expertise in all fabric skills, especially adept in knitting and crotchet. In her younger years she was a keen flower gardener.

Towards the end of her long and full life she was supported at home by her loyal husband Fred (to whom she was married for 65 years), close family and care staff.

The funeral service was held at St John the Evangelist Church, Corby Glen, conducted by the Rev Margaret Barton. Cremation followed at Grantham.

Family mourners included: Mr Fred Humphreys, Sally and Barry Warren, Tony De'ath, Barry Sylvester, Les and Pam Humphreys, Pam and John Nelson and Kate, Terry Humphreys, Steve and Pam De'ath and Kirsty, Barry De'ath, Kevin, Lucy, Matt and Tom Warren, Vince Sylvester, Mandy and Pete Toole and Jack and Paula Cade.

Other mourners included: Annie Asher and Maureen, Rosalie and John Sinclair, Margaret and Roger Scothern, Reg and Iris Asher, Elsie Stead and David, Jean Murray and husband, Susan Asher, Audrey Lamming, Mr and Mrs Scott, Billy and Kathleen Turner, Mr and Mrs Coy, Mr and Mrs G. Warren, Mr Gardner, Bryan and Christine Grantham, Pat and Steven Wright, Corrin Wallace, Andrew Bannister, Mr and Mrs Howes, Connie and Harry Craven.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine's Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
