MRS Vera Kathleen Pexton, of Bradleys Almshouses, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 87.
MRS Vera Kathleen Pexton, of Bradleys Almshouses, Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 87.Born at Croydon, Surrey, she was the daughter of Ernest and Annie Climpson and sister to Ernest.
In 1941 she married James Pexton and came to Grantham in 1946. She was mother to Anne and Clive. Later she became a grandma to five children and great grandma to 10 children.
In the early 1950s she took on the license of the Blue Cow, Castlegate, and afterwards at the George Tap, Guildhall Street. For over 25 years she was in partnership with her husband at Pexton's Pork Products in London Road, until retirement.
She was a past secretary and chair of Great Gonerby Friendship Club and also St Wulfram's Over-60s' Club. Mrs Pexton enjoyed dancing with her husband until his death in 1995. Her other interests included travelling, knitting, reading and caring for her daughter Anne.
Canon Christopher Andrews conducted the funeral service at St Wulfram's Church, Grantham. Cremation followed at Grantham Crematorium.
Family mourners included: Clive Pexton, Linda Pexton, Sean Pexton, Lisa Pexton, Terry Pexton, Jenni Pexton, Anne Cranfield, David Cranfield, Heath Cranfield, Pam Cranfield, Clare, Shaun, Charlene and Jamie Spires, Lindsay Cooper, Barry Cooper and Lewis and Danielle Cooper.

Dawson, Marjorie Caunt, Phil Barton, Mary Pointer, David Brown, Mrs P. Gallagher, Sheila Holland, Ruth Whitehouse, Vera Curtis, Patricia Blackshaw, Mr and Mrs Toon, Jo Green, Mrs G. Harsley, Mrs Duggan and Joyce Simpson.
Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine's Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for Mencap and Kings Court Amenities Fund.
