Christian Salvesen Easton factory sold

Tuesday, 12.15pm - Vegetable processing firm Christian Salvesen has sold three of its factories, including the one at Easton, near Grantham, to Belgian company Pinguin Foods.

Tuesday, 12.15pm - Vegetable processing firm Christian Salvesen has sold three of its factories, including the one at Easton, near Grantham, to Belgian company Pinguin Foods.The company is paying 17.2 million for the three sites, which process frozen peas for supermarkets.

Christian Salvesen is keeping plants in Grimsby, Hull and Lowestoft, which process foods for Birds Eye and other suppliers.

Around 300 people work for the part of the business sold to Pinguin Foods.

*Earlier this month Pinguin announced 120 redundancies at the former G W Padley Vegetables factory, which it bought in June.
