In May 1988, local fish shop manager Ralph Morgan was hoping to make the Guinness Book of World Records for the lowest car.
Ralph and his father, Trevor, rebuilt the unique blue 1969 Probe 15 which stood at just 32½ inches high.
Ralph explained at the time that only six Probes were ever built and only one Probe 15.
The two-seater hardtop coupe had a driving position that was akin to lying on one’s back.
Those with long memories at the Journal believe Ralph’s car briefly held the world record before being beaten by a crushed Hillman Imp.
