Tuesday, 12.15pm - MORE new theories hve emerged to explain the photos of ghostly orbs sent to the Journal in the last few weeks.Journal readers John Pocock and Chris Rees both believe the mysterious photographic anomalies are caused by the reflection of the flash from dust particles in front of the lens.

John said: "Most of the orbs I've seen on my camera have been in dusty rooms like castles & churches when the flash has been used. There again, these are also the most likely places to be haunted, so maybe I'm wrong!"

Chris agrees. He said: "It is difficult to avoid this from occurring with a compact camera as the flash is very close to the lens and it's light will often reflect back into the lens. It is very similar to the dreaded 'red eye' effect common with on-camera flash light portraits."

Both have sent in their own pictures showing the weird effect.
