Thursday, 11.15am - YOU could own a piece of Belvoir Castle's woodland and be part of a new regeneration and conservation project unveiled on Tuesday.TreeTwist is a company dedicated to planting trees, and it is working with the castle to restore two areas of woodland, Fir Holt and Lime Avenue.

Visitors can buy a Belvoir Fob and have a tree planted on their behalf.

They cost from 25 for a sapling in Fir Holt, to 220 for a more expensive species, to 1,000 for an established tree with a certificate and plaque.

Fir Holt and Lime Avenue are in need of restoration and the Duchess of Rutland hopes to help the environment and get visitors involved.

She said: "Each Belvoir Fob will represent a tree planted on the estate and we very much hope that the individuals responsible for those trees will have some fun, enjoy seeing their tree thriving and wear their fob with pride knowing they have made a small difference.

"With the backing of the Forestry Commission and TreeTwist, we are launching a project that will be inviting people to come into our fantastic gardens and help with the regeneration in these sad areas.

"I'm 150 per cent committed to the gardens and woodland."

An Enchanted Forest of Belvoir Castle is planned for the grounds, and new ideas for the gardens include hanging chimes and planting 250 to 500 new plants each year.
