Friday, 4pm - Parents have pulled their children out of a village school after a mobile phone mast was put up just 100 metres away.

More than 50 parents of children at Orston Primary School have signed a petition asking T-mobile to relocate the position of the transmitter.

So far, 10 children have been removed from the school which has just over 100 pupils.

Parents are concerned about the risk the transmitter may pose to their children's health.

Headteacher Sarah Moore said: "We are very disappointed to lose any children from our school, especially for reasons outside our control.

"We continue to work with governors, parents and the community to encourage T-mobile to relocate the transmitter."

Parents sent a petition to T-mobile protesting at the positioning of a mobile phone mast so close to the school.

But, T-mobile has refused to remove the transmitter.

Mrs Moore said: "Unfortunately they said as far as they are concerned there are no health risks."

A spokesman for T-mobile said: "There remains no reason why the school should be impacted by the mast."

In October, many pupils and their parents, marched to school wearing T-shirts protesting against the plans.

Martin Suthers, of Nottinghamshire County Council, wants to see a change in council policy.

He said: "The council could have been involved at an earlier stage to try to persuade the company to use a less controversial site."
