Friday, 12.20pm - FOOTBALL teams competed in a tournament to raise sponsorship for improvements to a town park.Families headed to Wyndham Park to cheer on the four teams as they went head-to-head in the six-a-side mini tournament.

The Allstars beat the Mavericks in the final, while The Priory and the San Marino Misfits watched on.

The event was organised to raise money for improvement projects in the park, and its success has even led to the Wyndham Park Forum beginning discussions with South Kesteven District Council over introducing a permanent football pitch.

The tournament was organised by local football enthusiast Paul Fixter, in partnership with the forum.

It was a big team effort, with the Grantham Volunteer Police Cadets working hard to set up the goals and retrieve balls.

Meanwhile, the Pantry Catering Company stepped in last minute to provide hot food and St John's Ambulance was on hand to see to any injuries.

KFN Bouncy Castles provided an assault course and maze to entertain the youngsters, as well as sponsoring the trophy for player of the tournament.

Sleaford Flooring also sponsored a trophy for the top goal scorer.
