Wednesday, 3.30pm - SOLDIERS killed at war were remembered during the annual Remembrance Day parade through Grantham on Sunday.Families lined the streets silently as the parade passed through the town centre on its way to St Wulfram's Church.

Among those marchingwere the RAF Waddington Pipe Band, Mayor of Grantham Ray Wootten, MP Quentin Davies and veterans from the RAF Association, Royal Naval Association and Royal British Legion.

Young faces were those of the Combined Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and local guide, brownie, scout and groups.

Grace Knightall, Poppy Appeal manager for the Grantham branch of the Royal British Legion, said: "There were lots of families lining the streets and a lot of youngsters, and they all had their poppies on."

Dozens of families packed the churchyard for the service given by Canon Chris Andrews, and to see the wreath-laying ceremony.

During the march back along the parade route, a salute was taken in St Peter's Hill.

This morning, crowds joined veterans and civic dignitaries among others by the war memorial on St Peter's Hill for the Armistice Day service.

After prayers, the traditional maroon sounded, followed by the Last Post and two minutes' silence.
