Friday, 1.15pm - A SIGN bearing a false allegation about a person was hung by a sign welcoming motorists into Claypole. The 4ft x 2ft wooden sign was discovered on October 28 in Stubton Road, just before the level crossing.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw it being erected.

The sign had a white background and black lettering. It named an individual, gave an address and made a false derogatory allegation.

"It was fairly large and may have taken more than one person to put it up. They may also have needed a vehicle to transport it.

"The sign was discovered and removed on October 28, but we do not know when it was put up. If anyone has any information then please contact me as soon as possible."
