Wednesday, 6pm - A LORRY has hit Springfield Road bridge, causing traffic chaos at one of the busiest times of the day.The driver, from Hungary, had to reverse the lorry down Springfield Road after damaging his vehicle.

Four police cars were needed to block both ends of the road, deal with traffic and help the driver reverse back down the road.

The lorry was moved clear at 5.45pm but traffic is still very heavy in the area.

The bridge is one of three in Grantham that are among Network Rail's top ten most hit.
