UPDATE Sunday 6pm - Firefighters have scaled down their presence at recycling firm environCom, but are uncertain whether evacuated residents will be able to return to their homes tonight.The factory in Houghton Road, Grantham, was destroyed in a massive blaze that started in the early hours of this morning.
Explosions could be heard across the town in the early hours as electrical equipment for recycling was consumed in the fire off Houghton Road and Albert Road.
The streets were cordoned off by police and residents evacuated to the Meres Leisure Centre for the night.
Two aerial platforms are still being used to damp down the remains of the collapsed building and debris from the roof is being collected from nearby gardens and car parking areas.
South Parade remains closed, although the A52 at Bridge End Road has been reopened.
Residents living nearby have been asked to keep all windows shut because of toxic fumes from the fire.
environCom recycles various items including televisions, computers and monitors, and fridges.

environCom's 2.1million Grantham plant was opened by MP Quentin Davies in June 2004.
Only last week, the Journal reported how residents were taking action against the company which planned to have lorries deliver to the site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
