Tuesday, 5pm - A REAL ale campaigner has spoken of his disappointment at the possible closure of Newby Wyke brewery in Little Bytham.Richard Howlett, chairman of the Grantham branch of Campaign for Real Ale is a friend of the brewery's owners Robert and Christine March, having known them since they were home brewers.

Richard, 46, said: "It is very disappointing to learn of the possible closure of the Newby Wyke brewery at its present site.

"We hope he finds a new premises and manages to set up successfully. Other breweries have moved successfully when asked to so it can be done with some help.

"If he does have to cease brewing it will be a big loss to the consumer- not just locally but across the country. Robert brews excellent, award-winning ales."

Camra promotes greater appreciation of traditional beers and ales, as well as trying to safeguard the future of pubs.
