Green pupils design some eco-friendly Christmas e-cards

Wednesday, 1.30pm - INVENTIVE and environment-conscious pupils of St Mary's Primary School have been busy designing a range of electronic Christmas cards.Children across the Grantham school entered their creative designs into a competition and the winners were picked last week.

The winning entries are available to download for free from Friday, as a new website shared by Grantham's St Mary the Immaculate Church and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Corby Glen is launched.

It will feature news and events, as well as a blog written by Father Anthony Dolan.

Father Dolan said: "The standard of the entries was very high, and not only do the e-cards celebrate the school's talented young artists, sending an e-card is good for the environment, saving on paper and other resources.

"I would encourage local businesses to consider sending one of the St Mary's e-cards this year in place of paper-based cards."

Entries were judged by chairman of South Kesteven District Council Bob Adams, chairman of the St Mary's Church parish pastoral council Peter Balfe and the school's deputy headteacher Janice Corcoran.

Coun Adams said: "All the designs conveyed, in one way or another, what Christmas means to me, so much so that I've selected one of the designs to be this year's civic Christmas card."
