Monday, 5.20pm - LOTTERY funding will transform a neglected village building into a central hub for the community in Corby Glen. The management committee for Corby Glen's Church Rooms, situated next to the village post office, has secured 225,700 from the Big Lottery Fund to completely refurbish the facilities which have become dilapidated and have not been properly used for at least six years.

Helen Baxter, the chairperson of the Church Rooms management committee, said: "At the moment there is no heating, the kitchen is not useable, there are no disabled facilities and the toilets are outside so we are having a complete overhaul to make it fit for the modern day and the future.

"We hope the groups which used to use the facilities before they became unusable will come back again."

Further funding has also been raised through the hard work of a group of villagers.

Helen said: "We have a wonderful fund-raising group who have managed to raise over 20,000 in the village in recent years and that money will also be spent on the project as well."
