Tuesday, 10.20pm - HUNDREDS of people flocked to Kesteven Rugby Club on Saturday (May 30) and helped raise 6,000 for children with cancer.A special day of events attracted people of all ages and more than 200 people took part in the 'It's a Knockout' themed contest alone..

The event was organised by Kelly Jones of Gonerby Hill Foot to raise money for children's cancer charity Clic Sergent.

Kelly's own son, 13-year-old King's School pupil Daniel Coetsee, was diagnosed with leukaemia in October.

Daniel entered his own team with fellow youngsters from Kesteven Rugby Club and opened the event himself.

Mum, Kelly, said: "It was brilliant - such a comfortable and relaxing event and absolutely nothing went wrong.

"We even had around 200 people who stayed in tents on the night after the bands had played."

The It's a Knockout competition was won by Bennington Bees - led by Daniel Coetsee.

The event was so successful Kelly is planning on a repeat next year.

She said: "Next year I want to do it at the end of the month so it doesn't get in the way of anyone's exam revision. So start thinking about your team for next year!"
